Twenty-eight restaurants competed in five categories at Souper Bowl XVI to benefit The Food Depot, Northern New Mexico’s food bank. Approximately 1,000 attended the event to vote for their favorite soups, netting more than $50,000 for hunger-relief.
Jambo Cafe captured the Best Soup Award as well as the Best Savory Soup for their entry, Island Spice Coconut Peanut Chicken. The Best Sweet Soup honor went to Santa Fe Bar & Grill for their Roasted Apple with Apricot and White Chocolate soup. The Best Seafood Soup honor went to Dinner for Two for their entry, Maryland Crab Soup. Finally, Café Pasqual’s won the Best Vegetarian Soup for their Chipotle Sweet Potato with Chile Pecans.
Other restaurant participants included Anasazi Restaurant; Café Café; Chef Nuevo Caliente Catering; Delicasa; Garbo’s @ RainbowVision Santa Fe; Gold Dust Restaurant; Golden Buffet; Joe’s; La Boca; La Casa Sena; La Plazuela at La Fonda; Las Fuentes at Bishop’s Lodge; Luminaria Restaurant at the Inn & Spa at Loretto; Osteria d’Assisi; Pueblo Deli; Rio Chama; San Francisco Street Bar & Grill; Santa Fe Capitol Grill; St. John’s College Dining Services and Catering; Terra at Encantado; Turquoise Trail Bar & Grill; Vinaigrette; Whole Foods Market; and Zia Diner.
The Framing Company, Bobbi Hall, Herbs Etc, Hutton Broadcasting and Los Alamos National Bank signed on as platinum sponsors with CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, Hal Burns Truck & Equipment Services, Michael S. Rich Contractors and The Santa Fe New Mexican providing support at the gold sponsorship level. Alphagraphics, Ben E. Keith Foods, the Good Water Company, Lisa M.
