The Empty Bowls Project is one of Santa Fe’s most popular fundraising events, a terrific family activity with the added benefit of supporting the fight against hunger in Northern New Mexico. Due to issues securing a venue, The Food Depot will not hold the Empty Bowls Project in May 2010. Please stay tuned as the food bank may hold the event later in 2010!
Admission to the Empty Bowls Project is free. Guests choose from hundreds of bowls created and donated by potters from all over New Mexico, purchase them for $15.00 each, then fill them with fabulous soups donated by favorite local restaurants. In addition to a great meal, Empty Bowls offers a silent auction of art items, gift certificates, and more. The dynamic KUMUSHA Women’s Marimba Ensemble will entertain guests, donating their performance to the cause.
The Food Depot recruits potters to create and donate soup bowls for the event. The food bank would like to feature a large selection of beautifully crafted bowls for its guests. To donate a bowl or items for the silent auction or to volunteer at the event, please contact Viola Lujan at The Food Depot at 505-471-1633, Ext. 11 or drop bowls off at The Food Depot, 1222 Siler Road in Santa Fe.
