April 24, 2015 — Canstruction® Santa Fe Presents People’s Choice Award
SANTA FE — The first Canstruction® Santa Fe event will conclude at Santa Fe Place mall on April 25. The People’s Choice award will be presented at noon near the food court.
Five local teams were tasked to assemble their sculptures out of cans of food in 10 hours or less on April 11. This year’s theme was “Welcome to New Mexico”. The sculptures built were: “We Can in Peace,” “Red or Green?,” “Food4Pets,” “NM Can” and “Zozobra Can Do”.
Immediately following the award presentation will be the “decanstruction” of the five sculptures. Team members and volunteers will break down the sculptures. The event is expected to collect more than 8,000 cans of food to be donated to The Food Depot.
The public was invited to vote for their favorite sculpture for approximately two weeks through The Food Depot’s website and the Canstruction® Santa Fe’s Facebook page.
Canstruction® Santa Fe is brought to you by: AIA Santa Fe, Santa Fe Place and The Food Depot. The event is sponsored by: Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe, Branch Design and Development, Smith’s Food and Drug Stores and Santa Fe Place mall.
