Did you know? The Food Depot & disaster relief

Did any of the Super Bowl commericals give you “the feels?” Well, Budweiser’s water commercial did for us. Why? Two words that hit home for The Food Depot staff: disaster relief.

The Food Depot works with nine counties and their emergency management teams to coordinate when crisis occur in our service area.

In 2000, The Food Depot joined local efforts to aid the victims of the Cerro Grande fires by providing 1,361,467 pounds of food. When the village of Questa had issues with their water wells in December 2016, The Food Depot took more than 2 semi-truck loads of water to the community. Most recently, many of you donated to the hurricane relief efforts we coordinated with the Feeding America partner network to get the communities to meet their specific requested, and you came through with more than 110,000 pounds of food and other supplies.

The Food Depot has a disaster plan in place that is updated annually. When the unexpected occurs, The Food Depot staff is ready to coordinate, communicate and execute actions needed to get the job done.
