National Volunteer Appreciation Week

National Volunteer Appreciation Week is April 15-21. The Food Depot is so grateful for our amazing volunteers! A note from Sarah C., our volunteer coordinator:

As the Volunteer Coordinator at The Food Depot, and in honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, I would like to recognize the hundreds of volunteers who donate their time and talents to feeding Northern New Mexicans in need. Behind each of the 450,000 meals The Food Depot distributes monthly lays a vast network of dedicated volunteers processing food, raising awareness, staffing fundraising events and more. In addition to providing the sheer labor inherent in food banking, volunteers also help The Food Depot maximize donor contributions and achieve an impressive efficiency rate of 95% of every donated dollar going directly towards feeding people. According to the Independent Sector’s nationally recognized value of volunteer time, volunteers save The Food Depot $24.14 every hour they work. That equates to more meals for children, adults and seniors who are struggling to make ends meet.

Feeding New Mexico is a collective effort and The Food Depot is grateful to be supported by such dedicated, persistent and compassionate volunteers. Thank you for making our corner of the world a better place.
